India Cements has been promoting sports activities for over Four Decades not only
as a part of its contribution to society or corporate image building, but also because
of the keen interest of the promoters of The India Cements Limited in promoting
and developing Indian sports.
The Company and management are involved in the development of Cricket and have been
actively promoting and popularizing the game. Mr.K.S.Viswanathan and Dr.G.Natarajan
our employees have been elected as Secretary and Joint Secretary respectively of
The Tamilnadu Cricket Association (TNCA). Several senior officers have volunteered
themselves to assist TNCA in various capacities like Finance, Legal, Umpires to
name a few.
The India Cements is promoting Cricket, Squash, Chess, Triathlon and Golf across
India to produce talented sportsman of international class.
Cricket in particular is an all time favorite of the top management of The India
Cements. We have taken immense efforts to promote cricket in all districts of Tamilnadu
for the past 3 to 4 decades, which resulted in a strong representation of high quality
district cricketers at Ranji level. In order to take cricket to the rural population,
The India cements have invested in setting up pitches and stadiums comparable with
city level facilities.

To maintain the spirit of the game and provide entertainment to the general public
India Cement's contribution towards cricket is immense especially in the last 5
years even though it has been a pioneer in the support of the game for nearly 4
decades.
The India Cements Limited has a rich history of successful management of Cricket
Clubs, sponsorship of various cricket tournaments, contribution to deserving cricketing
causes, encouragement of young cricketing talent and fierce commitment to improving
the quality and standard of Cricket in our country.
Another commendable initiative is the participation of District Players in the City
League. Around 100-150 promising players from the districts inducted into the City
Clubs get an opportunity to hone their cricketing skills by playing a higher level
of cricket.
India Cements has been an extremely active participant in the TNCA League Championship,
one of the most professionally run championships in the country. The extent of its
involvement can be gauged from the fact that it has sponsored 12 Cricket Clubs spread
over all the five divisions of the TNCA League.
India Cements has also made its presence felt in some of the popular Tamil Nadu
Cricket tournaments like the Buchi Babu Memorial Trophy instituted in 1910 and the
Hindu Trophy which was inaugurated in 1950. The teams sponsored by India Cements
have triumphed in the Buchi Babu Tournament 3 times and have emerged victorious
in the Hindu Trophy 11 times.
