ALL TIME CSK XI
KS Viswanathan, who was closely associated with Chennai Super Kings during the first eight seasons of the IPL, picked his all time XI with South African bowling all-rounder Chris Morris as the strike bowler and also said it would be between Pawan Negi and Mohit Sharma for the final spot depending on the conditions.
“Morris is also a clean striker of the ball,” said Viswanathan, currently Consultant – Sports, The India Cements Limited. Popularly known by his first name Kasi in cricket circles, Viswanathan picked Ashish Nehra as Morris’ pace partner. “Incisive, being left-arm fast medium he lends variety to the attack,” stated Viswanathan, also a former Secretary of the Tamil Nadu Cricket Association.
CSK won the title twice, finished runners-up on four occasions and qualified to the Playoffs in all eight seasons to emerge as one of the most decorated sides in the opening decade of the Indian Premier League.
“On slow tracks Negi can chip in with two overs of his left-arm spin and he is also a useful lower-order bat,” said Viswanathan. “Or Mohit Sharma, if the pitch assists pace,” he concluded.
